In his role as Heartland Bioventures’ director of bioenergy, Tony Simpson focuses on advancing projects in Kansas that address efficient and renewable energy production through bioscience technology.
Mr. Simpson has more than 17 years of experience leading businesses in the grain processing and renewable fuels industry. In nine years with POET he started two major green-field ethanol plants and led equity drives, refinancing and expansion efforts for these facilities. He started his career with ADM, where he held positions in trading and plant operations management. Most recently he was the general manager for ED&F Man’s ethanol operations in the United States, leading asset management and business development efforts.
Mr. Simpson has served on the boards of the Renewable Fuels Association, Michigan Agribusiness Association and the Tuscola County (Mich.) Economic Development Corporation.
He holds an economics degree from Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
