As general counsel, Tariq Abdullah provides legal support for all of the KBA’s business operations and investment programs. Mr. Abdullah has a broad background in litigation, compliance, contracts and policy and procedures administration. Prior to joining the KBA, he worked for the Kansas Health Policy Authority, where he served as chief counsel for the Kansas State Employee Health Benefits Plan, compliance officer ensuring agency compliance with applicable laws, and
chief counsel for class action, pharmaceutical litigation. He was appointed as a special assistant
attorney general by Kansas Attorney General Steve Six. His experience also includes corporate real
estate contracts and private practice focusing on litigation and contracts. Mr. Abdullah
earned his JD degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and bachelor of arts in sociology from Washburn University in Topeka. He is a member of the Kansas Bar, is certified in compliance by the Health Care Compliance Association, has completed Kansas court approved dispute resolution training, and serves on the board of directors of the Crescent Peace Society.
