Kansas Open Records Act
Under the Kansas Open Records Act (KORA), you may inspect and obtain copies of public records created or maintained by public agencies in Kansas. Open records requests may be made in writing to the Kansas Bioscience Authority’s freedom of information officer and records custodian Janice Katterhenry via e-mail at katterhenry@kansasbioscienceauthority.org; fax to (913) 937-8003 or via mail at 25501 W. Valley Pkwy., Ste. 100, Olathe, KS 66061.
Requests must be made in writing and should include your name, mailing address, and a specific description of the records you are requesting. Make your request as specific as possible to expedite the process.
For copies of records more than five pages long, fees will be charged and paid by the requester in advance. In accordance with this provision and the Kansas Open Records Act, K.S.A. 45-215 et seq., the
following fees shall be charged for providing access to or furnishing copies of public records:
- Staff time will be charged at the rate of pay for the person(s) whose time is used in order to assist and/or respond to a specific record request.
- Copies of records produced at the KBA office in excess of five pages, 25 cents per page
- Copies or records produced by outside vendor, actual cost
- Mailing of record, actual cost
- Certification of record, actual cost
- Any other costs actually incurred by the agency as a result of complying with a record request may be charged to the requester.
Regular office hours on business days are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Records may be inspected during those hours. The KBA office is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and official holidays.
