Ken Buchele is Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending of ESB Financial; a home owned commercial bank with branches in Emporia and Manhattan, Kansas.

Upon graduation from Kansas State University, Mr. Buchele was employed by Cargill Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas prior to entering the Peace Corps as a Volunteer. He spent 2 years in the Amazon region of Brazil working with the Secretary of Agriculture of the state of Amazonas in agricultural coop assistance programs. He started his banking career in Emporia, Kansas in 1972. He was the senior lender for the Emporia market for Bank IV and its predecessor and successors until he joined ESB Financial as its senior vice president in 1999.

Mr. Buchele has served as Board Chair for various community organizations including Emporia Community Foundation, Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, Newman Regional Health and Flint Hills United Way. He has been a member of the Kansas State University Alumni Board, Kansas State Supreme Court Nominating Commission and Leadership Kansas class of 1982.

Mr. Buchele holds a B. S. from Kansas State University in Feed Technology, and a graduate degree in banking from Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. He is a native of Cedar Vale, Kansas.

Ken’s wife Marilyn is an Executive Assistant for the Division of Student Life and Director of Veterans Educational Services at Emporia State University.
