David Vranicar

Kansas Bioscience Authority

As President & CEO of the Kansas Bioscience Authority, David Vranicar leads the organization that was established by the state legislature in 2004 to help grow the bioscience sector into a pillar of the Kansas economy, generating jobs and opportunities throughout the state. Mr. Vranicar joined the KBA in 2009 as president of Heartland BioVentures, leading commercialization programs and investments for the Kansas Bioscience Authority.

Mr. Vranicar possesses a wide range of corporate development and operations expertise, having led merger and acquisition, strategic alliance, corporate finance and information technology functions at companies in the healthcare, telecom and software industries. Mr. Vranicar led the development of the initial comprehensive financial plan for the University of Kansas Cancer Center and earlier worked at Marion Laboratories on numerous product licensing, joint marketing and business development initiatives. He was a member of the founding management team at Birch Telecom, where he was involved in large rounds of equity financing and led the company’s IT and billing functions that supported growth to $300 million in revenue in six years. Mr. Vranicar has also held executive positions in business development and operations at several other high-growth software companies.

Mr. Vranicar earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and a master’s degree in business from the University of Michigan.
