Following decades of work in the public and private sectors, Dan Glickman is the Senior Fellow in residence at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, D.C. He serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and The Hain Celestial Group, and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Glickman is also Chairman of the education arm of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition.

Previously, Mr. Glickman served as President of Refugees International and as Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). Prior to joining MPAA, Glickman served as the Director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

In 1995, President Bill Clinton appointed Mr. Glickman as Secretary of Agriculture, where he stayed until the end of Clinton’s term. Under his leadership, the Department administered farm and conservation programs; forged international trade agreements to expand U.S. markets; and improved its commitment to fairness and equality in civil rights. The department also made significant inroads in improving America’s diet and nutrition and fighting hunger.

From 1976 to 1994, Mr. Glickman served for 18 years in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Kansas’ 4th Congressional District. During his time in Congress, he was a member of the House Agriculture Committee, the House Judiciary Committee, and chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Before his election to Congress in 1976, he served as president of the Wichita, Kansas, school board; was a partner in the law firm of Sargent, Klenda and Glickman; and worked as a trial attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He received his B.A. in history from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from The George Washington University. He is a member of the Kansas and The District of Columbia Bars.

He recently co-authored a bipartisan study for the Chicago Council on Global Affairs entitled: Renewing American Leadership in the Fight Against Global Hunger and Poverty. In March 2010, Mr. Glickman received the Global Child Nutrition Foundation’s 2010 Gene White Lifetime Achievement Award for Child Nutrition.
